Bicycling has grown in popularity across North Carolina, both as a recreational sport and a regular mode of transportation. Many areas offer bike lanes and bike-friendly facilities to accommodate those traveling by two pedals. However, bicyclists are particularly vulnerable road users. We’re all responsible to watch for each other.

-
When driving a car, give 3 feet between you and a bicyclist.
-
Treat your bike as a vehicle, and follow the rules of the road.
-
Ride in the street and not on sidewalks. You are more visible to drivers pulling out of intersections and driveways.
-
When riding next to parked cars, watch for opening doors.
